Meeting Highlights
December 2009
Ordinances in progress:
* Recording of public meetings – guidelines and
parameters.
* Ethics code and an Ethics Commission.
The Barrington Library will
be moving its book drop box from Charlie Brown park to the Vehe
grounds by Village Hall.
Lake Zurich Rd. has been
completed, and paid for. The cost was $144,090, of which Deer
Park paid $116,443. The road is no longer Deer Park’s
responsibility.
A five year contract with
Groot Industries is being drawn up. Deer Park has been promised
at least one of the new CNG (compressed natural gas) trucks
during the tenure of the contract. The trucks are lighter,
quieter and cleaner than current models. Other new benefits
include a formal vacation program for residents who spend
significant amounts of time away from their Deer Park homes.
Barrington Competitive
Baseball Club (BCBC) and Barrington Youth Baseball and Softball
(BYBS) will be entering into a user agreement with Deer Park,
which will result in greater utilization of the field facilities
near the LZ fire station in the Town Center. Costs to Deer Park
will be minimal, additional business for our retailers should be
helpful, and the facilities will benefit lots of kids.
A company which performs
Utility billing audits will be retained to determine if Deer
Park is receiving all of the Utility taxes it is due. Azavar
will be reviewing billings and will receive 50% of the increased
revenues it secures for Deer Park, going forward for 5 years.
If no increases are achieved, no cost will be incurred by Deer
Park.
Progress is being made,
albeit slowly, to improve the Deer Park website. Trustee Olson
has been updating it, and will redouble his efforts to keep it
current while we evaluate options which will lead to a much more
professional and functional website for the Village. In the
interim, please direct questions about the website to Trustee
Olson at
keithdolson@comcast.net.
November 2009
- The planning commission recommendation from November,
regarding a request by the residents at
20877 Wildrose Drive for a special use
permit for a poolhouse, was approved.
- President Kellermann reported that the Village of
Lake Zurich received two million
dollars from Canadian National Railroad, while none would be
provided to Deer Park at this time.
He added that Deer Park will continue
to pursue the issue.
Deer Park has much less area with direct exposure to potential
safety problems posed by the increased rail traffic.
- Trustee Sands reported that the work on
Lake Zurich Road has been completed
and the road is now the sole responsibility of Cuba
Township.
